Nine faithful workers gathered at 42 Arch Street on June 4th for one of our final workdays on the house. Nyasia's home is nearing completion and will hopefully be ready for her to move into sometime next month.
We had many jobs to tackle. A group worked on cleaning up the foundation and applying Conproco to the ouside walls. This was a labor intensive job that involved moving dirt, applying a support webbing to the walls, mixing concrete, and troweling it onto foundation. Not an easy job with temperatures approaching the 90's! And just a few days earlier we were in the 40's - but, that's Rochester!
The final result of their labors really dressed up the foundation!
Meanwhile there was a lot of activity inside the house as well! Windowsills were being painted, walls, ceilings and trim were getting touched up, exterior doors and porches were receiving a 2nd coat of paint, blinds were hung in the windows, and the home was really looking great!!
A group of Habitat Hammer and Saw volunteers were also on hand doing the final install on the split heating and cooling system. We were all wishing the air conditioning was working that day!!
We noticed many changes since the last time we had been in the house. Closet shelving had been installed, the hot water heater and the laundry tub were in the basement, the side porch railings were on, the walls were painted, ceiling light fixtures were up and operational, and bathroom medicine cabinets were in place. Getting closer and closer to the finish line!Â
