I love before and after pictures! They really show the progress that one day can make. One of the projects for our workday on Saturday, May 17th, was to install the railings on the front porch of the house. There were many steps to that project. First the posts needed to have their corners rounded by a router. Then they needed to be painted. Holes had to be cut into the decking to install the 2 short railing posts with lag screws. A mounting board was screwed to the front of the house for the railing to be attched. Then the railings were cut to length being careful to make sure that all the spaces between the rails would be centered. As you can see from the pictures above all jobs were very successful and the railings looks great and really dress up the front of the house.
Meanwhile there was a crew working inside the house as well. Their task was to caulk the 3,457 nail holes in the door mouldings and floor trim so they would be ready for the final coat of paint! Also, the front and side exterior doors received their first coat of paint. After routing the post corners, Dave was busy cutting and installing window sills on the 2nd story windows.
It was a great day with a great group of workers! The weather cooperated nicely as well. The morning was beautiful and then it thundered and lightened and poured while we were inside eating lunch. When we went back to work the rain had stopped and the sun was trying to peak out! Truly a blessed day!!
